Obituary:
Lawrence Disher, a resident of Portage County for many years died Sunday night
at his home in the town of Grant. He had been in failing health for the past
year.
Mr. Disher was born on January 6, 1876 in Poland. He came to this country and
located in Fancher. His marriage to Miss Mathilda Ostrowski took place at Plover
on November 5, 1900. After their marriage the couple lived in Stevens Point. The
family has lived in the town of Grant for the past 23 years.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters and five sons, Mrs. Charles Lubetski and
Mrs. Joseph Wiater of Amherst Junction, Mrs. Bernard Schomberg of Custer, Mrs.
Nicholas Washelski of Hatley, John Disher of Stevens Point and Jacob,Theodore,
Bennie, Alois and Evelyn at home. He is also survived by three sisters and three
brothers, Mrs. Anton Kazonsk of Amherst Junction, Mrs. John Singer and John
Disher of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Michael Zbliski and F. S. Disher of Stevens
Point and Jacob Disher of Fancher.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St.
Bronislawa's church at Plover. Rev. W.B. Polaczyk will officiate and burial will
take place in the parish cemetery. The body will be at the family home until the
time of the funeral.

Funeral of Mr Disher
Funeral services for Lawrence Disher, a resident of Portage County for many
years who died at his home in the town of Grant, were held Wednesday morning at
9 o'clock at St Bronislawa's church at Plover. Rev. Frank S. Disher of
Manitowoc, a nephew of the deceased, officiated at the requiem high mass. Rev.
W. B. Polaczyk was in charge of the services at the cemetery.
The pallbearers were Ted Disher, Jacob Disher, John Disher and Ben Disher, sons
of the deceased, and Leo Singer and John Disher, nephews.
Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Disher, Mrs. Agnes Dudzek, Mrs. Mike Zbliski and Mr. and Mrs. John Kostuch
of Stevens Point; Barney Schomberg of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Walsheski of
Hatley; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ostrowski of Sharon; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Waeter, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Lubiecki and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kazonsk and son John of Amherst
Junction; Mike Waldach and family of Dewey; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sankey and Mr.
and Mrs. Jacob Disher and son John of Fancher.

Obituary
Tille Fredach dies, was county's oldest
Matilda "Tille" Fredach, Portage County's oldest resident, died this morning at
age 111.
A lifelong resident of the county, she died at the Portage County Health Care
Center, where she had lived for 11 years.
"She was happy-go-lucky," said Charlene Cyran, a nurse who cared for Fredach
since she came to the center. "Everyone really loved her. she was the mascot of
the wing."
Fredach was active and would rise each morning at 6, did not want to take naps
and would go to bed at about 8 p.m., Cyran said.
"She never complained, and she liked to go go go," she said. " She was a very
active lady. she loved babies and animals.
Fredach who passed the centurion mark 11 years ago, celebrated her birthday last
month with a birthday cake and coffee at an open house at the center.
She was among a handful of residents in the state who were 109 or older,
according to state census figures.
Although she had some trouble with her hearing, eyesight and mobility, Fredach
had a good appetite and was not ill often, according to workers at the center.
She grew up speaking Polish and enjoyed speaking with visitors in the language.
Fredach formerly of 22 Elm St., was born Feb. 28, 1882, in Polonia, the daughter
of the late Leon and Frances Ostrowski. She grew up there, where she attended
rural schools.
She was married to Florian Disher on Nov, 5, 1900. The couple farmed in the town
of Plover, where they homesteaded 40 acres. He died in 1934.
She was married to Joseph Fredach in 1940. He died in 1954.
A grandson now runs the family farm at 13310 Birch St.
Fredach enjoyed knitting, and crocheting and had a small garden in her back
yard. She maintained her home until the age of 91, when she moved in with
members of her family in Stevens Point.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bronislava Church in Plover
with the Rev. James Logan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dzikoski/Pisarski Funeral
Home. A bible vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Fredach raised 10 children.
Survivors include a son, John Disher, Tampa, Fla., a daughter, Katherine Waiter,
Stevens Point Nursing and Rehabilitation center; 63 grandchildren, 158
great-grandchildren, 73 great-great grandchildren; and six great-great-great
grandchildren.
Her newest great-great grandchildren, a girl, was born this morning to Wendy and
Rusty Mitch, 510 Crimson Court. Wendy Mitch is a great-granddaughter of Mrs.
Fredach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four daughters and four
sons.
