Notes for EDMUND FRANK DISHER: Stevens Point Daily Journal Tuesday, October 5, 1965 Obituary Edmund F. Disher Edmund F. Disher, 49 2325 4th Ave., died unexpectedly at 7:15 p.m. Monday at St. Michael's Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday. Born Nov. 26, 1915, in Nekoosa, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs Frank Disher. The family moved to Portage County and eventually to Stevens Point, where Mr. Disher graduated from Emerson High School and attended Wisconsin State University. He entered the Army Jan. 20, 1942, as a private, and served overseas in the European-African theater as a member of an Air Depot Group. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Upon returning to Stevens Point, he operated his father's tavern, which is now the Unique, for a short time, and was employed as a salesman for the Joern's Furniture Co. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Lorraine Katzmark at St. Peter's Catholic church. For the past 14 years he had been employed by the former Moland Brothers trucking firm, now Glendenning Motorways, Inc. Mr. Disher is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Patricia Ann, 15, and Kathleen Ann, 13, both at home; one brother, Col. Raymond Disher, Falls Church, Va., of the U. S. Air Force; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Evelyn) Meadow-Croft, Redwood City, Calif., and Mrs Victor (Margaret) Vrobel, 1117 Franklin St. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dzikoski Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday, where Berena-Sceibner Post No. 6 American Legion, will conduct rites at 7 p.m. St. Stanislaus' Rosary Society and St. Elizabeth's Court No. 879, Woman's Catholic Order of Foresters, will jointly recite a rosary at 7:30 p.m. A general rosary is scheduled for 8 p.m. ***** Stevens Point Daily Journal Friday, October 8, 1965 Disher Services Military graveside rites were conducted Thursday by Berens-Schribner Post No. 6, American Legion, for Edmund F. Disher, 49, 2325 4th Ave., who died Monday at St. Michael's Hospital. Ted Schulfer was in charge of the firing squad, which consisted of Stanley Polebitski, Alfred Skalski, Victor Jablonski, Chester Zwicki, George Allen and Leonard Zeleski. The memorial team was composed of Thomas Helminski and R. B. Lewis. Prior to graveside rites, funeral services were held at St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial took place in Guardian Angel Cemetery. The eight grade class of St. Stanislaus School, of which Mr. Disher's daughter, Kathleen Ann is a member, attended the funeral in a group. Pallbearers were co-workers at the Glendenning Motorways, Inc. They were Gerald Buchmaster, John Gardner, Conrad Zinda, Leo Sether, Carol Tilton and Mortz Grasamke. Relatives and friends attended from Wausau, Fon du Lac, Wisconsin Rapids, Falls Church, Va., Redwood City, Calif., Racine, Portage and Stevens Point area.
