Obituary

Mrs. John Raschka

Mrs. John Raschka, 70, Route 4, Stevens Point, died Sunday afternoon at St. Michael's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Matzek officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, where St. Stanislaus Rosary Society, of which Mrs. Raschka was a member of Group 37, will recite a rosary at 7:30 p.m. A general rosary will follow at 8:15 p.m.

The former Regina Singer was born March 3, 1902, in the Town of Grant, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Singer. She attended schools in Stevens Point and worked in Duluth, Minn., until her marriage to John Raschka on Oct. 28, 1924, at St. Bronislava's Church, Plover.

Mrs. Raschka worked for the Whiting-Plover Paper Co. until 1937, when she and her husband began operating the Jordan Bar. In 1947, the couple purchased and operated the Wing Bar on Highway 66 near Stevens Point, and they retired in 1966.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Loraine) Firkus, Route 5, Stevens Point, and Mrs. Norman (Geraldine) Strojny, Route 4, Stevens Point; eight sisters, Mrs. Johanna Kiedrowski, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Herman (Susan) Winkelman, Ormsby, Minn., Mrs. Frank (Frances) Shopinski, Plover, Mrs. Martha Ryan, Minneapolis, Minn.,Mrs. Walter (Margaret) Seiczka, Milwaukee, Mrs. Frank (Bernice) Raschka, 2825 Minnesota Ave., Mrs Edmund (Belvine) Worzalla, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Katherine Franks, Milwaukee; three brothers, Louis Singer and Leo, Milwaukee, and Henry, Plover; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Raschka was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Obituary

John Raschka

John Raschka, 80, 4400 Highway 66, died Sunday morning at River Pines Community Health Center, where he had been a resident since July. He had been ill the past six months.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church. the Rev. Vaughn Brockman will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. The general rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mr. Raschka was born Jan. 26, 1900, in Stuart, Neb., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Raschka. He moved to Stevens Point as a child and attended local schools.

He entered the Navy on Dec. 1, 1920, and served as a fireman third class. He was discharged Dec. 5, 1922.

He returned to Stevens Point and worked for the Whiting-Plover Paper Mill until 1937. He then started Jordan Bar which he operated until 1947, when he started Wing Bar, on Highway 66 near Green Avenue intersection. He retired in 1966.

Mr. Raschka married Regina Singer on Oct. 26, 1924, at St. Bronislava's Catholic Church, Plover. She died in 1973.

He was a member of Izaak Walton League.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Lorraine) Firkus, 584 N. Brilowski Road, and Mrs. Norman (Geraldine) Strojny, 4410 Highway 66; four brothers, Paul, 2040 Michigan Ave., Frank 2825 Minnesota Ave., Joseph, 7004 Highway Q, and Charles, Route 5, Stevens Point; three sisters, Mrs. John (Ada) Kedrowski, 317 N. Division St., Mrs. Harold (Rose) Neider, Sun Prairie, and Mrs. Roman (Gertrude) Lorbecki, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Weds Rapids Girl

John Raschka, member of a pioneer family in the town of Hull, was married at the Plover church this morning to Regina Singer of Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. S. Lapinski officiating at the nuptial mass. Three bridesmaids and an equal number of groomsmen attended the newlyweds; Martha and Margaret Singer, Bessie Dell of Duluth, Paul Raschka, Michael Galecki and Ben Pepowski. Little Evelyn Singer served as veil carrier and Anna Rosenthal as flower girl.

The bridal gown was of white crepe and Spanish lace and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses. Georgette crepe dresses of blue, green and yellow were worn by the bridesmaids, the flower girl's was of a pink shade and the veil carrier was dressed in lavender georgette.

The wedding party drove to Wisconsin Rapids, where dinner was served at the John Singer home.

Mr. and Mrs. Raschka expect to reside in this city.
