Notes for LORRAINE M. RASCHKA: Stevens Point Journal Monday, January 27, 1992 Obituary Lorraine M. Firkus Lorraine M. Firkus, 66, 583 N. Brilowski Road, died this morning, Jan. 27, 1992, at home. Mrs. Firkus was a cook at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point for 16 years, from 1973 to 1989. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Gerald Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shuda Funeral Chapel. St. Stanislaus Rosary Society, of which she was a member, will combine with the general rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Mrs. Firkus was born May 9, 1925, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late John and Regina (Singer) Raschka. She attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. She was married to Ervin Firkus on June 17, 1944, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He survives. The couple farmed in the town of Hull. Mrs. Firkus was a member of the Pulaski School Board and a volunteer for many years at the Red Cross and American Cancer Society. Survivors besides her husband include three sons, James (Kathleen), Bergland, Mich., Ronald (Linda), 562 N. Brilowski Road, and Fred (Mary), 558 N. Brilowski Road; one daughter, Barbara (Greg) Flynn, 600 N. Brilowski Road; one sister, Gerri (Norman) Strojny, 4410 Highway 66; and seven grandchildren.

FIRKUS: Stevens Point Journal Saturday, November 9, 2002 Obituary Ervin Firkus Ervin Firkus, 81, 584 Brilowski Road, died peacefully at home Friday Nov. 8, 2002, with his family at his side. He had been under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice of Portage County. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Deacon Donald Borski will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends may call at Shuda Funeral Chapel from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Ervin's name for Ministry Home Care-Hospice of Portage County. Ervin was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Theodore and Veronica (Brilowski) Firkus. He attended grade school at St. Stanislaus Catholic School. He was married to Lorraine Raschka on June 17, 1944, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Ervin worked as a farmer and logger until retiring in 1982. After retiring, he worked part-time doing road maintenance for the town of Hull. Ervin enjoyed playing cards, family dinners, picking mushrooms, canning vegetables, riding his all-terrain vehicle and time spent with his little dog, Curly. He is survived by three sons, James (Kathleen), Bergland, Mich., Ronald (Linda), and Fred (Marion), both of Stevens Point; one daughter, Barbara (Greg) Flynn, Stevens Point; seven grandchildren, Buffy Ferguson and Dana, Cory, Josh, Sarah, Keith, and Ryan Firkus; three sisters, Lorraine (Edward) Soik, Elsie (John) Glodowski, and Sylvia (Richard) Redding. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, and two brothers, Raymond and Harold Firkus.
