Notes for JACK A. SAARI: Stevens Point Daily Journal Friday, February 7, 1975 Obituary Jack A. Saari Jack A. Saari, 41, 3023 Post Rd. Whiting. died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday at Sy. Michael's Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been ill since last June. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. the Rev. James Schnieder, Peace Campus Center, will officiate. Burial will be in McDill Cemetery. Friends may call after 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. A memorial to Trinity Lutheran Church has been established in Mr. Saari's name. Mr. Saari was born July 15, 1933, in Duluth, Minn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Saari Sr. His family moved to Stevens Point in 1940, and he attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. In Milwaukee on Oct. 9, 1951, Mr. Saari enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an Airman 1st class, and was a tail gunner during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and was discharged on Sept. 2, 1955 at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Mr. Saari attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and then went to work as a printer for Worzalla Publishing Co. He was employed until his illness. His marriage was to Betty Shopinski in 1958. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Jack and Toni, Stevens Point; two daughters, Lori and Brenda, both at home; and one sister, Mrs. Edgar (Bonita) Boreen, Madison.
